Suburbia

Analysis of the American suburban phenomenon or why have American cities developed in such a radically opposite way to ours in Europe, deploying a periphery of residential neighborhoods and hardly any life in the center? And how have residents lived and are now living in Suburbia? How has cinema, literature, and photography portrayed them and their life style? What social movements accompany the suburban phenomenon? The catalog highlights the contradictions of this model, successfully exported throughout the world although it is an unsustainable way of life, based on continuous trips by car, and a great waste of energy. It is possible that it is precisely this ambivalence, between utopia and dystopia, that makes Suburbia so magnetic to the artistic gaze.
