Agnés Varda. Fotografiar, filmar, reciclar

Catalogues

Catalan , Spanish 29€

Cinema, photography and video art were the main fields of work of the great filmmaker Agnès Varda (1928-2019). Bold and original, her work is the expression of an imaginary built from intimate experience, but also social and political. A convinced artist, committed feminist and fighter for the rights of the most vulnerable and marginalized, her cinematographic production produced more than forty works, among which Cléo from 5 to 7, Sans toit ni loi and Les Glaneurs et la Glaneuse, which we still find today.

They teach a radical way of making films with complete freedom.

The catalog of the exhibition “Agnès Varda. Photographing, filming, recycling” (originally conceived by Florence Tissot to accompany the first exhibition at the Cinémathèque française in Paris, in 2023) is now presented translated into Catalan and Spanish, with the incorporation of voices from scholars, filmmakers and film critics from our country, which give a plural and intergenerational character to the interpretation and reception of Varda's polymorphous work in all its complexity.

The more than three hundred images that illustrate this catalog (archive documents, stills, works of art, filming and personal photographs), many unpublished, come largely from the archives of Agnès Varda, a legacy that is preserved in Ciné-Tamaris ‒the family production company that she created herself‒ and that Rosalie Varda and Mathieu Demy keep alive.
