Xiluva Tomás Fernández

Spanish singer and violinist of Mozambican origin

She began her musical studies at the age of six, specialising in the violin at the Angels Casas School of Music (EMAC) in Barcelona. Throughout her childhood and teenage years, she combined this musical training with various orchestras and choirs, all of which has helped her to grow as a musician.

After passing the first two years of Higher Grade in Violin, in 2017 she took the entrance exam for the Higher Grade in Modern Singing at the Catalonia College of Music (ESMUC), coming first and embarking on the course which she continues to study at present.

Xiluva currently combines her studies with her job as a singer, chorister and violinist in various projects. These include the musical group Belter Souls (as part of the cast of its gospel show Joyful!); Nhamirre Project, a musical project that she is working on with her sister and her father, the Mozambican bassist Childo Tomás, and which fuses traditional African and Western music; The Black Barbies, which offers a journey through the different styles of black music and pop with jazz, swing, soul and funk; the show Music Has No Limits; and the project I’ll Be There (Motown tribute). She is also a member of Kundala (a vocal group with which she has appeared on various TV programmes including AcapelA and Oh Happy Day) and other groups such as The Cover Lovers (a jazz group for private events) and Shadow Sessions (a soul, funk and hip-hop group).
