Sergio Álvarez Leiva

Sergio Álvarez Leiva (@saleiva) works as Director of Design at Vizzuality, a visualisation studio that he founded four years ago. He is in charge of conceptualising and designing (from the blackboard to the visual design) projects that focus on telling stories based on large quantities of data, and also developing his most important product CartoDB. He is a self-declared fan of maps and the Open Source community. He has worked on truly important projects with organisations such as NASA, Google, World Resources Institute, the University of Yale, Oxford, The Wall Street Journal and The Guardian. He teaches classes at the European Design Institute and is working on the design of Agroguía, a wonderful precision farming project.
