Sara Marañón Jiménez
Sara Marañón is a leading researcher in ecology and soil science at the CREAF. She has also been a full lecturer at the Autonomous University of Barcelona since March 2024. She is Doctor of Ecology (University of Granada), and her work focuses on the effects of global change on ecosystems, from the tropics to high latitudes. Her research includes studying grasslands heated by geothermal activity in Iceland and the effect of melting permafrost in Sweden. She examines how climate change affects biogeochemical cycles, microbial physiology and the carbon sequestration capacity of soil. Sara is renowned for her focus on ecological and biogeochemical sustainability in both agroecosystems and natural ecosystems. She is also the author of numerous scientific publications and an active participant in international projects.
