Santu Mofokeng

Born in Johannesburg in 1956, Santu Mofokeng began his photographic career informally in Soweto as a street photographer. In the 1980s he decided to devote himself seriously to photography, mainly documenting the political activity of the time. He is now mainly interested in the policies and poetics of representation of the black population of South Africa. His work also underlines the ideological perceptions of the South African landscape. Other works, carried out in Germany, look at the memory of concentration camps.
