Resina

Cellist and composer

Resina is Karolina Rec’s solo project. Active in Poland’s independent music scene since the late 2000s, she was co-founder of some of the most influential alternative bands: Kings of Caramel, Cieslak and Princess, Nathalie And The Loners Anthony Corale among others. She has featured on numerous album releases and soundtracks –including the Oscar-nominated ‘Rabbit a la Berlin’. As a live artist, Karolina has played throughout Europe supporting the likes of Sarah Neufeld, Godspeed You Black Emperor! as well as label mate Ian William Craig. The Polish cellist and composer is also known for her collaborations with an eclectic list of artists from Maciej Cieślak, Hubert Zemler through to Zamilska, but since 2016 she has been carving her solo career with her own project.

Her second album, Traces, sees her expanding her sound palette, employing not only otherworldly soundscapes created from heavily looped and processed cello, but also wordless vocals and rhythms. These draw inspiration from an obsession with damaged sacral objects, memory, survivors of violence and the ravages of time.
