Pep Bonet

Pep Bonet was born in Colònia de Sant Jordi, Majorca, in 1974. In 1997 he settled in Amsterdam and decided to become a photographer. His studio is now based in Santanyí, Majorca. He was shortlisted in the World Press Photo Masterclass 2002 for under-30s with "Faith", and in Descubrimientos Photoespaña with "La Procesión de San Lázaro" (The procession of Saint Lazarus). He was Kodak Young Photographer of the Year 2003 with "Faith in Chaos" and has been awarded the following prizes: FotoPres, Fujifilm Europress Portrait and Zilveren Camera Holland (Foreign Documentary series). In 2004 he was runner-up in the W. Eugene Smith Grant in Humanistic Photography, which he won the following year. His books include HIV/AIDS - VIH/SIDA (Rozenburg, 2005).
