Paula Casal

Paula Casal is ICREA research professor at the Law Department of Pompeu Fabra University (UPF), where she carries out research into the philosophy of law. She holds a PhD in philosophy from Oxford University and has focused her research on studying questions of ethics and moral philosophy associated with global and environmental justice, such as the links between climate change, social inequalities and animal ethics. She has continued her academic career at a number of world-renowned institutions, including Harvard and Reading universities, and she is currently president of the Great Ape Project-Spain, an international initiative that seeks to defend the rights of these primates. She is co-author of the essay Por un reparto más justo del planeta (Editorial Trotta, 2016), which argues for the implementation of a worldwide tax that will reduce social inequalities.
