Niloofar Haeri

Professor of Anthropology at Johns Hopkins University, she has done research on Egypt and Europe and has published articles in the Guardian and Le Monde Diplomatique. Her recent book Say What Your Longing Heart Desires: Women, Prayer, and Poetry in Iran (Stanford University Press, 2020) has won a number of awards. She has also written a film script that will be adapted for theatre and has consulted on documentary films about Iran.
