Montserrat Vendrell

Montserrat Vendrell (Barcelona, 1964) is Director-General of Biocat, which works to stimulate and promote biotechnology and biomedicine in Catalonia. She has been working for more than ten years in several international research centres specialising in biomedicine, and more than fifteen years as a research and innovation manager. She has a PhD in Biological Sciences from the University of Barcelona, a master’s degree in Science Communication from the Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona) and is a graduate of the Management Development Programme of the IESE Business School. Since 2012 she has been president of the European Council of BioRegions (CEBR). She was also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Catalan Society of Biology from 1996 to 2007.
