Montserrat Guibernau

Montserrat Guibernau (Vilanova i la Geltrú, 1960) has a PhD in Social and Political Theory from Cambridge University and is Professor of Political Science at Queen Mary University of London. She has taught in the universities of Barcelona, Cambridge and Warwick as well as the Open University, and is also a Senior Fellow at the Cañada Blanch Centre of the London School of Economics. Her research is mainly concerned with questions of nationalism, governance of plurinational democracies, globalisation, citizenship and the European identity, while her areas of interest include Catalonia, Scotland, Quebec, Northern Ireland and Veneto. She has published several books, the more recent of them including Belonging: Solidarity and Division in Modern Societies (Polity, 2013), Per un catalanisme cosmopolita (For a Cosmopolitan Catalanism, Angle, 2009) and La identitat de les nacions (The Identity of Nations, Deria, 2010).
