Mireia Sallarès

Artist

Fine Arts graduate from Barcelona University, with film studies at the New School University and the Film & Video Arts of New York. She is a freelance documentary producer and divides her time between Barcelona, Mexico City and other cities, where she conducts her artistic projects. She has exhibited at the Fundació Miró in Barcelona, the Museo de Arte Carrillo Gil in Mexico, the Americas Society in New York, the Organización Nelson Garrido in Caracas, the Centro Cultural Montehermoso in Vitoria, the Laznia Centre for Contemporary Art in Gdansk, the Galleri Image in Aarhus, the OK Centrum in Linz, and La Capella in Barcelona, among others. Sallarès uses video as a means of anthropological investigation, but also as a narrative instrument capable of producing stories from the complexity of reality. One of her foremost works is Las muertes chiquitas, which explores female orgasm.
