Miquel Canals
Professor of Marine Geosciences, Director of the UB Chair of Sustainable Blue Economy and Director of the Department of Earth and Ocean Dynamics. His scientific research is focused on multidisciplinary marine research, addressing topics such as marine biogeochemistry, anthropogenic impacts on the marine environment, underwater mapping, marine geohazards and paleoceanography. He is also a member of the jury of the "BBVA Frontiers of Knowledge Awards" in the Climate Change category and was a member of the IFREMER Scientific Committee. He is one of the authors of The Atlas of Submarine Glacial Landforms: Modern, Quaternary and Ancient (Geological Society of London, 2016), and a member of the Editorial Board (2022-present) of the journal Progress in Oceanography.
