Mercè Vila Rigat
With a degree in History of Art from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, Mercè Vila Rigat also has a diploma in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage from the School for Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage of Catalonia (ESCRBCC), and a postgraduate degree in Museum Management from the Pompeu Fabra University. She combines her professional activity as exhibition coordinator at the Vila Casas Foundation, which works to promote contemporary Catalan art, with art criticism and curating exhibitions. In 2020, she received the Núvol Prize in the “Galleries” category for her work as co-curator of the exhibition “Càpsules de confinament: art i pandèmia a Catalunya” (Capsules from Confinement: Art and Pandemic in Catalonia, Fundació Vila Casas) and, in 2023, the ACCA (Catalan Association of Art Critics) Award in the category of Projects and Artistic Initiatives for co-directing “El Vernissatge” (Private View), a digital project devoted to contemporary Catalan artists.
