Marita Muukkonen

She is an internationally active curator based in Helsinki and the cofounder and co-director of Perpetuum Mobile (PM). In 2014, she established together with Ivor Stodolsky, Artist at Risk (AR), a global network of artistic institutions, non-profits, municipalities, state institutions and international organizations to assist, relocate and fund artists who are at risk of persecution or oppression, or are fleeing war or terror. For the last ten years, AR has welcomed more than 850 artists and professionals from the domain of culture at risk and, in 2016, was honoured with the European Citizen’s Prize of the European Parliament. Previously, she also held different positions as editor and curator within the Finnish contemporary art field, and produced exhibitions and projects in museums such as MoMA in New York, Moderna Museet in Sweden or in Momentum Gallery in Berlin.
