Marc Torices
Comic-book author, animator, director and art director.
He co-wrote and co-directed, with Pau Anglada and Genís Rigol, the animated short Knockstrike, which was shortlisted at international festivals like Clermont-Ferrand, Ottawa and Sundance, and won an award in Turin. The experimental short Naive Mischief in Oak Paso, co-directed with Manson, won an award in the Basque Country and Greece. As an animator and art director, he has collaborated with and worked in numerous animation studios and creative companies, such as Canada, Device, Bliss, Brut, Glassworks, Bandai and Vice. He worked on the storyboard of Alberto Vázquez’s films Decorado and Unicorn Wars, producing the art of scene 24. His cartoons have been published by publishing companies, magazines and newspapers in countries such as Spain, France, England, Italy, Mexico, Chile, Poland, Holland, Argentina, USA and Slovenia. His first graphic novel, Abrir Para Cerrar, was awarded an Injuve runner-up prize. His graphic novel Cortázar, based on a biography of Julio Cortázar written by Jesús Marchamalo, was awarded the Splash prize (Best National Comic Book 2017) and the Comic of the Year award of the Gremio de Libreros de Navarra. In 2023 he published La alegre vida del triste perro Cornelius, later to be published in 2024 and 2025 in Poland, Holland, France and USA. As an illustrator he has worked with Libération, Blackie Books, Nørdica Libros, Ajoblanco, Diari Ara, BCN Mes and Cactus, and created the identity of festivals and entities such as La Llama Fest, Gutter Fest, Moog, Laut and La Marató de TV3. He is currently working on the production of the short La verdad te rechaza, Cornelius, based on the characters of his book La alegre vida del triste perro Cornelius.
