Maggie Nelson
Maggie Nelson (San Francisco, 1973) is one of today's most original writers. She is Professor of English at the University of Southern California and lives in Los Angeles. She received her PhD from the City University of New York (CUNY). Nelson is a poet, critic, and author of the books The Art of Cruelty (2011; deemed "Notable Book of the Year" by The New York Times), Bluets (2009), and Jane: A Murder (2005). The Argonauts (2015) received the National Book Critics Circle Award for Best Essay of the Year, quickly becoming a landmark book for thousands of readers. Her most recent book is On Freedom (Random House UK, 2021; published in Catalan by L'Altra and in Spanish by Anagrama, 2022), with which she revives current debates around art and cancellation culture, sex and MeToo, drugs and climate change.
