Laia Estruch

Performer

Laia Estruch is a Fine Arts graduate of the University of Barcelona, completing her last year of undergraduate studies while studying Performance Art and Sound Art at Cooper Union in New York. Her artistic practice is set in the framework of performance and sculpture, working with the language of the body and the voice. Her projects analyse the emotive possibilities of a cappella and the untheatricalized body, and create a space for reflection in relation to the performative nature of language, sound recording and the oral archive. She designs sculptural sets conceived as scenes, spaces for experimentation, by means of which she takes body and word to the field of action using voice, sound and gesture.

She has received numerous awards and has given performances at the MACBA (2012), Fundació Antoni Tàpies (2014), Espai 13 at Fundació Joan Miró (2019) and La Virreina Centre de la Imatge (2020), among other venues.
