Karolina Ramqvist

Writer and journalist

An eminent Swedish feminist, she is considered to be one of the most influential writers of her generation. She has published stories, essays and novels in which she ponders contemporary issues like sexuality, commodification and loneliness. Her novel The White City (Grove Press/Atlantic Monthly Press, 2017; published in Spanish as La ciudad blanca, Anagrama, 2017) was awarded the prestigious Per Olov Enquist Prize and, translated into nine languages, has brought her work to international attention. Notable among her publications are Flickvännen (The Girlfriend, Wahlström & Widstrand, 2009), Alltings början (The Beginning, Norstedts, 2012), Fredskåren (Peace Corps, Myrios Novellförlag / Natur & Kultur, 2012), and the work Det är natten (It’s the Night, Norstedts, 2016), an essay on the different roles of a writer. As a journalist, she has been editor-in-chief of the review Arena and she is a regular columnist for the daily Dagens Nyheter.
