Jungleye Collective

Photographic collective

In November 2015, Jungleye launched a participative photographic project directed by the photographer Séverine Selous and architect Julie Brun in the camp for refugees and migrants in Calais (France) which is widely known as the “Jungle”. The project spread to other informal refugee and migrant camps throughout Europe, including the Katsikas refugee camp in Greece. This alternative photographic essay aims to give voice to immigrants by offering them a tool with which they can testify to their everyday reality and share their humanity. As they playfully learn about the art of photography, the migrants reveal their own experiences. The work of the photographers has been recognised and exhibited in Brighton, Brussels, Lille, and Barcelona, and media outlets like Le Monde and The Guardian have reported on the project.
