Juan Freire

Biologist, university lecturer and entrepreneur. Explorer in the role of innovation, strategies and digital technology and culture in social networks, organizations and cities.

A Doctor in Biology and Head Professor at the University of A Coruña (UDC) where he was Dean of the Science Faculty. Since March 2009, he has also been the Chair of Digital Economics at the EOI Business School. At the UDC, he coordinates the research group in Marine and Fisheries Resources. He has published nearly one hundred articles in international scientific publications and has directed several I+D projects. He has participated in the creation of two spin-off business initiatives (Lonxanet and Fismare) thanks to his research work at the university. He is currently the Executive Director of Fismare, a company specialized in environmental consultancy and collaborative fellow of e-Cultura, a company dedicated to cultural management, territorial development and creative processes. He carries out projects and provides consultancy work with companies, public administrations and NGOs on sustainability and environmental management and on the role of innovation, strategy and digital technology and culture in social networks and organizations, especially in universities, companies and cities. He has collaborated with the digital media Soitu.es and with ADN.es.
