Joan Seoane

Joan Seoane has a doctorate in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and is an ICREA research professor at the Vall d’Hebron Institute of Oncology where he heads his own research group. From 1998 to 2003 he worked at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. His research field is molecular processes that appear with the onset of cancer. More specifically, he has also engaged in research on the glioma, one of the most aggressive types of brain tumour, with the aim of finding treatments to combat it. His work has been recognised with several awards, among them the Dr. Josef Steiner Cancer Research Foundation Award 2013. He is also president and co-founder of Mosaic Biomedicals, an offshoot of the Vall d’Hebron Institute of Oncology which has been widely recognised in the biotechnology sector.
