Jean-Pierre Filiu

Historian

He is a historian and Arabist, specialized in contemporary Islam. He is a professor at the University Sciences Po Paris and was previously a professor at the University of Columbia and Georgetown University. He has served as French Foreign Affairs advisor in Jordan, Syria, Tunisia and the USA. His works and articles have been translated into a dozen of languages and his latest works include Histoire de Gaza (Fayard, 2015), Les meilleurs ennemis. Une histoire des relations entre les États-Unis et le Moyen-Orient (Futuropolis, 2012 and 2015), Je vous écris d'Alep (Denoël, 2013), Le Noveau Moyen-Orient (Fayard, 2013) —a work for which he received the Jean-Michel Gaillardo Prize—, and L'apocalypse dans l'Islam (Fayard, 2008).
