Hakan Günday

Writer

Hakan Günday (Rhodes, 1976) is one of the most celebrated novelists in today’s Turkish literary scene. Though he left his studies in political sciences to pursue a writing career, his work continues to explore the rules that govern human society and behavior. Since publishing Kinyas Kayra, considered Turkey’s first underground novel, he has written numerous novels that are among the most read in Turkey every year. One such is More (Arcade, 2016), voted Best Turkish Novel in 2011 and Prix Médicis Étranger in 2015 in France, about human trafficking in Europe, which casts light on the brutal conditions of migrants trying to reach the continent through Turkey.
