Grant Munro

Grant Munro (Canada, 1923-2017), apart from being one of the most renowned animators in his country, stood out as a documentary filmmaker and actor. From the Ontario College of Art he jumped directly to Norman McLaren's team at the National Film Board of Canada, where he began making his first cut-paper animation shorts. McLaren was the one who popularized the figure of him, using him as an actor in such well-known works as Neighbors or Christmas Cracker. The collaborations between the two were continuous, both in scripting and production tasks. In his independent career, in addition to his first animations, his stop-motion animation shorts (Toys, 1966) and his latest documentaries (Boo-Hoo, 1975) stand out, where the acid humor that characterizes his work it is more palpable.
