Gaston Core
Choreographer, theatre maker, curator, and artistic director
Born in Buenos Aires, Gaston Core has lived in Europe since 2001. He studied Communication at the Univesity of Buenos Aires, and performance and dramaturgy in various theatre and dance schools, including the Barcelona Theatre Institute. He holds an MA in Contemporary Philosophy by the University of Barcelona. He has worked with European film projects and in the area of cultural management. In 2012, he initiated the Sala Hiroshima theatre in Barcelona, and was its director until it closed in 2021.
Gastón Core has been director of the Centre d’Arts Escèniques (Centre of Dramatic Arts) in Terrassa and has curated a range of projects. He works in initiatives that aim to showcase the most innovative trends in the contemporary international scene. As a choreographer he has directed the composition El díptic del desert (The Desert Dyptich), which consists of a soloist piece called The Very Last Northern White Rhino and a group piece titled Chorus. In the 12th Kosmopolis Festival he will be presenting Abans que caigui la nit (Before Nightfall), a show that includes rappers from different regions singing their versions of the Iliad, now performed as a rap battle.
