Fruela Fernández
Translator, writer and poet
With a degree in Translation and Interpretation (English/German) from the University of Salamanca and a European Doctorate from the University of Granada, Fruela has translated into Spanish the work of writers such as Franz Kafka, Peter Handke, or Marie Luise Kaschnitz, among others. His most recent translations include Apocalipsis. Revelación de Juan (Wunderkammer, 2023) or From Lichtenberg to Kafka. Aforismos y apuntes alemanes (Akal, 2023), as well as the essay-anthology Manos verdaderas (Kriller71, 2022). Author of four books of poetry, his latest collection of poems, Corrige los nombres (La Bella Varsovia, 2023), contemplates the concept of time, uncertainty, fear and conflicts. Former director of the international poetry festival Cosmopoética (2007-2011), he has been a visiting researcher and professor at several international institutions, such as the Center for European Sociology of the CNRS and the University of Newcastle. He currently advises the publishing house Kriller71 and teaches at the University of the Balearic Islands.
