Francisco Lloret

Professor of Ecology at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and a researcher at the CREAF.

He has devoted his professional life to studying the ecology of forests and their resilience in the face of disturbances that are frequently associated with climate change and territorial transformations, such as fire, drought, pests, habitat destruction and the invasion of exotic species. His research has centred primarily on Mediterranean ecosystems, and he has worked in the Mediterranean basin and in North America. He has carried out research at scientific institutions in the United States, Argentina, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and Portugal. He has published over 150 scientific articles and has carried out an active task of dissemination, as shown in the book La muerte de los bosques (Editorial Arpa). He has been President of the Asociación Española de Ecología Terrestre, and is now a member of the Executive Committee of the European Ecological Federation and the Consell de Protecció de la Natura de Catalunya.
