Francisco Jarauta

Professor of Philosophy at the University of Murcia.

(Murcia, 1941). Professor of Philosophy at the University of Murcia, he has a PhD in Philosophy, Anthropology and History of Art and has taught in several European and American universities. He works with a number of international institutions engaged in research and analysis, combining his academic activity in the areas of aesthetics, art and philosophy with work on the boards of such cultural institutions as the Centro Andaluz de Arte Contemporáneo (Andalusian Centre for Contemporary Art) and the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (Reina Sofía National Museum Art Centre). He has been the curator of several international exhibitions, for example “Desde el puente de los años. Paul Celan – Gisèle Celan-Lestrange (From the Bridge of Years: Paul Celan – Gisèle Celan-Lestrange) in the Círculo de Bellas Artes de Madrid, 2004, and “Micro-Utopías. Arte y Arquitectura” (Micro-Utopias: Art and Architecture) at the Third Valencia Biennial, 2003. Notable among his recent books are Tensiones del arte y la cultura en el fin de siglo (Tensions of Art and Culture at the End of the Century), Fundación Marcelino Botín, 2003; Gobernar la globalización (Governing Globalisation), Fundación Cajamurcia, 2004; and Viollet-Le-Duc. Conversaciones sobre la arquitectura (Viollet-Le-Duc: Conversations about Architecture) COAATMU, 2007.
