Francesc Subirada

Deputy Director of the Barcelona Supercomputing Center - Centro Nacional de Supercomputación since it was established in 2005, he was Deputy Director of the Joint IBM-UPC Research Institute at the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC) from 2000 to 2004. He was also Director of the IBM Center for Advanced Studies (CAS) in Barcelona. From 1989 to 1999 he worked for IBM where he was responsible for a range of technical and business strategy positions. He has a Chemical Engineering degree from the Institut Químic de Sarrià (IQS – Chemical Institute of Sarrià) and worked on several research projects in this institution from 1986 to 1989. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the Open University Business School (United Kingdom).
