Ferran Sayol
Ferran Sayol is a biologist and Doctor of Terrestrial Ecology (Autonomous University of Barcelona). He is currently a researcher at the CREAF, in the Junior Leader programme of Fundació “la Caixa”, in the field of biodiversity. He has held postdoctoral positions at the University of Göteborg and at University College London. In recent years, he has centred his studies on understanding how and where the planet’s biodiversity is being lost, such as collecting information on all bird species that have gone extinct due to human action and studying what the role of these species was in their ecosystem. Since 2020, he has also coordinated the mesocarnivore monitoring network in Catalonia, which studies the populations of these mammals over time, with the help of camera traps and volunteers.
