Ellen Deckwitz

She began her career as a performing poet and was winner of numerous poetry slam championships in the Netherlands. Her first collection of poems De steen vreest mij (Stone Fears Me, Nijgh & Van Ditmar, 2011) received the 25^th C. Buddingh Prize for Best Literary Debut in Dutch. Since then, she has published five collections of poems that have been praised by critics and have made her one of the most notable young poets in the Netherlands. Her most recent collection is Hogere natuurkunde (Advanced Physics, Uitgeverij Pluim, 2019.) She has given numerous recitals around the world and also writes regularly about literature and music in several media outlets as well as giving poetry workshops in schools.
