Elizabeth Sarah Coles

Literary critic and researcher

She is a writer, literary critic and Marie Skłodowska-Curie postdoctoral fellow at Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona. She studied at the University of Cambridge, where she received the T. R. Henn Prize for English and the Wood Whistler Medal, and Queen Mary, University of London. She has published widely on contemporary anglophone literature, literary theory and criticism, and psychoanalysis. Her co-edited book, Wild Analysis: From the Couch to Cultural and Political Life (Bar-Haim, Coles and Tyson, 2021), which won a Gradiva Award, is a volume of essays on psychoanalysis, politics, and contemporary culture. Her latest book, Anne Carson: The Glass Essayist, published by Oxford University Press, won the Poetry Foundation's 2024 Pegasus Award for Poetry Criticism. A Spanish translation will be published with Vaso Roto Ediciones in 2025.
