Journalist, scientific communicator and co-founder of the scientific news agency Formicablu

Elisabetta Tola is a journalist, scientific communicator and co-founder of the scientific news agency Formicablu. A specialist in data journalism, science communication and multimedia, she teaches classes on the Master’s Degree in Science Communication at Sissa, Trieste, and other schools of journalism. She is a contributor to radio programmes on science and technology on RAI Radio 3 and Ràdio Città del Capo, and also in media such as Wired Italy, RaiExpo, L'Espresso and others. She is also co-founder of iData, a project for developing Italy’s first open-source platform on data journalism. One of the key points of this project is the role of citizen-journalists in compiling data and thus producing own databases. Among her work with data, especially worthy of highlight is her contribution to the project #scuolesicure to denounce the lack of data among the authorities on the safety of Italian schools with regard to the seismic threat. Elisabetta is also author of Seedversity.org, a crossmedia project underway on agrobiodiversity in collaboration with Rai Radio3Scienza and Wired Itàlia and with the support of a grant from the Innovation in Development Reporting Grant Programme of the European Journalism Centre.
