Cordelia Sánchez

Visual artist and muralist

Cordelia Sánchez is a Shipibo-Konibo artist originally from the native community of San Francisco in Pucallpa, Peru. She lives in Lima where her work has been exhibited in the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Barranco, the Museo Metropolitano de Lima and the Galería Martín Yépez.

Her artistic production stands out for its deep roots in the Shipiba tradition, especially in the knowledge transmitted orally by the mothers and grandmothers of the community. Her work is immersed in the powerful relationship between art and nature, as she believes that art and medicine are intrinsically connected, since both emerge from the healing power of plants. Through her canvases, she seeks not only to celebrate nature, but also to make an urgent call to stop its destruction.

In 2023, she participated in the exhibition “La canoa: melodies from the river” and in 2024 she has inaugurated her solo exhibition “CORDELIA: Surrounded by nature”.
