Claus Offe

Professor of Political Sociology, Hertie School of Governance, Berlin, Germany.

Claus Offe is professor of Political Sociology at the Hertie School of Governance. He has a PhD from the University of Frankfurt and obtained his Habilitation from the University of Konstanz. In Germany he has occupied chairs of Political Science and Political Sociology at the universities of Bielefeld (1975-1989), Bremen (1989-1995) and the Humboldt University of Berlin (1995-2005). He has worked as a visiting professor at institutions including the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences (CASBS) at Stanford University, Princeton University, the Australian National University, Harvard University, the University of California at Berkeley and the New School University, New York.
