Chigozie Obioma

Writer and assistant profesor of literatura and creative writing at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln

Chigozie Obioma is a writer and assistant professor of Literature and Creative Writing at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The New York Times has described him as “the Heir to Chinua Achebe” and his first novel, The Fishermen (Pushkin Press), was nominated for the Man Booker Prize 2015. In the author’s own words, his novel aims to “build a portrait of Nigeria at a very seminal moment in its history (the annulled presidential elections of 1993), and by so doing deconstruct and illuminate the ideological potholes that still impede the nation’s progress even today.”
