Cândido Mendes

President of the Cândido Mendes University (Brazil).

(Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 1928). Vice-Chancellor of the Cândido Mendes University (Rio de Janeiro), he has a Ph.D. in Law from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and, since 1951, has taught in different universities of Brazil and other countries (New York, Stanford, Princeton and Columbia, inter alia). He has been appointed to several positions in international institutions, among them as a High-Level Group member of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations and member of the International Social Science Council, which has its headquarters at UNESCO House in Paris. He is Secretary-General of the Academy of Latinity.
