Bruce Sterling

Writer, editor and critic. Considered one of the founders of the cyberpunk movement alongside William Gibson, he is specially known for his science fiction novels, among which are Islands in the Net (1990) winner of the John W. Campbell Memorial in 1989; Distraction (1998), winner of the Arthur C. Clarke Award; and The Zenith Angle (2004). He has also written the book of short stories Mirrorshades: a cyberpunk anthology (1998) and Cristal express (1992); and essays like Law and Disorder on the Electronic Frontier (1992) and Tomorrow now: Envisioning the Next Fifty Years (2003)

During 2005, he worked as a ‘visionary' resident at the prestigious Arts Centre College of Design in Pasadena. He has also appeared on a number of TV shows, including, Nightline on ABC, The Late Show on the BBC and Morningside on CBC; and he has published articles in the Times, Newsweek, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Nature and Technology Review.

He is currently contributing editor at the magazine Wired and a columnist on the magazine Make.
