Bobby Gillespie

Bobby Gillespie (Glasgow, 1961) is the lead singer, songwriter and founding member of Primal Scream, with whom he’s released eleven albums, among them Screamadelica (1991), produced by the brilliant Andrew Weatherall, among others, and which included some of the most enduring anthems of British rave rock: “Loaded” and “Higher Than the Sun”. Gillespie also played keyboards with The Wake on their first releases in the early 80s, as well as drums with brothers Jim and William Reid in The Jesus and Mary Chain around the time they released one of the key albums of British indie rock: Psychocandy (1985). His most recent work is the LP Utopian Ashes (2021), in collaboration with Jehnny Beth from Savages.
