Begoña Román

Begoña Román Maestre (Petrer, 1965) has a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Barcelona and is now a lecturer in the faculty. She is a member of the consolidated research group “Aporia: Contemporary Philosophy, Ethics and Politics” as well as president of the Ethical Committee of the Social Services of Catalonia and a member of the Bioethics Committee of Catalonia. Her field of specialisation is applied ethics in professional and organisational milieus. She teaches in this area at the university and gives training seminars in institutions. She has been executive secretary of the Ethos Chair at the Ramon Llull University where she taught until 1997.

Notable among her recent publications are Ética en los servicios sociales (Ethics in the Social Services, Herder, 2016) and, with Francisco Esteban, ¿Quo vadis, Universidad? (Quo vadis University? UOC, 2016). She has also edited Hacia una sociedad responsable: reflexiones desde las éticas aplicadas, (Towards a Responsible Society: Some Thoughts from Applied Ethics, Prohom Edicions, 2006), Por una ética ecológica (In Favour of Ecological Ethics, Prohom Edicions, 2005) and Por una ética docente (Arguments for Ethical Teaching, Prohom Edicions, 2003).
