Àngels Margarit

Dancer, pedagogue and choreographer, director of the Mercat de les Flors

Born in Terrassa in 1960, Àngels Margarit is dedicated to dance in her different aspects as dancer, pedagogue and choreographer. She is part of the first generation of contemporary dancers to emerge in the early eighties in Barcelona. In 1985, she set up her own company, Mudances. Her shows have been co-produced at major festivals and in international programmes, and in the course of these years she has presented her work in over 25 countries with numerous creations. She has received awards such as the Catalan Prize for Dance for Mudances (1986) and Tèrbola (1999), the Catalan Prize for Interpretation for Atzavara (1991), the Ciutat de Barcelona Performing Arts Prize for Corol·la (1993) and the Dance Prize of the Spanish Ministry for Culture (2010). She has been the director of Mercat de les Flors since December 2016.
