ANDY VOTEL: Andy Votel is the artistic alter ego of Andrew Shallcross, one of Europe’s musical activists with the most solid career. Based in Manchester, Votel is known for his work as a DJ and a producer of electronic music. But he is best known as a record producer, at the forefront of labels such as Twisted Nerve Records, which has released some of his discs; Pre-Cert Entertainment, a label he shares with the duo Demdike Stare, which releases very limited vinyl runs of highly specialized minority genres, such as soundtracks of horror films from the seventies, and Finders Keepers, probably the best-known label in which he is involved, which basically re-edits highly specialized discs.
