Professor of Urban Planning at the London School of Economics, his research is concerned with the relationship between planning and policy and also the governance of cities. He has worked as an adviser to the Japanese Government, the City of Seoul, the Greater London Government and the OECD, and he has taught in several universities in the United Kingdom, Sweden, Canada and Australia. He is co-editor of the series Planning/Environment/Cities of the publishing house Palgrave/Macmillan and is a member of the editorial board of the review European Planning Studies. His most recent book is Planning World Cities: Globalization and Urban Politics, (Palgrave/Macmillan, 2005) and, with Christian Lefèvre, inter alia, he will shortly be publishing a book on the governance of regions in the global age.
