Andreu Domingo

(Saus, 1958) is deputy-director of the Centre for Demographic Studies and a senior lecturer in the Department of Geography at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). With a degree in History and a PhD in Sociology, he has specialised in population studies. His research areas include the family, the marriage index and, more recently, international migration. He has written numerous articles for specialist journals and has now published the book Catalunya al mirall de la immigració. Demografia i identitat nacional (Catalonia in the Mirror of Immigration: Demography and National Identity, L’Avenç, 2014). He has also published the essay Descenso literario a los infiernos demográficos: distopía y población (A Literary Descent into Demographic Hells: Dystopia and Population, Anagrama, 2008) as well as the literary work El llegat del doctor Deulofeu (The Legacy of Doctor Deulofeu, Empúries, 2004), for which he was awarded the Marian Vayreda Prize.
