Alexei Sayle

Actor

An actor, writer and stand-up comedian, Sayle (Liverpool, 1952) was a legend in the clubs of the alternative London comedy circuit in the early 1980s. His absurd, surrealist humour is in the tradition of comedians like Spike Milligan and Monty Python, although his professional work also embraces cinema, television and radio. From 1982 to 1984, he acted in the British sitcom The Young Ones, playing different members of the Balowski family. Initially broadcast by the BBC between 1982 and 1984, The Young Ones became a cult series in the United Kingdom and also in Catalonia. In 1985, TV3 showed the series, dubbed into Catalan, for the first time. Those two seasons about the lives of four university students who are sharing a house marked a whole generation.
