Adolf Tobeña

Professor of Psychiatry and Medical Psychology at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, Adolf Tobeña is engaged in research in neuroscience and psychiatry while also carrying out a notable task of popularising science in the media.

He has published 15 books and 160 articles in his area of specialisation. He has been director of the Department of Psychiatry and Forensic Medicine at the Autonomous University of Barcelona for twenty years and has also been a visiting professor at a number of international centres in London, Groningen, Tel Aviv and Venice. He has received several awards for his work including the Avui Prize for Scientific Journalism (1991), the Serra i Moret Prize of the Generalitat (Government) of Catalonia (1994), and the European Science Communication in the “General Study” category (2004).

Notable among his recent publications are Cerebro y Poder (Brain and Power – La Esfera, 2008) and Píndoles o Freud (Pills or Freud – Columna, 2011).
