Narcisa Hirsch. «El mito de Narciso» by Mercè Coll

March 2022

Philosophy professor Mercè Coll presents Narcisa Hirsch's El mito de Narciso (The Myth of Narcissus). Constructed using various fragments from the more than thirty films made by this Argentinean filmmaker of German origin throughout her lifetime, the film is a "strange autobiography", covering not only the life she's lived but also the lives she could have had, the discarded possibilities. Playing with her own name and the well-known Greek myth of Narcissus, the filmmaker explores the images to unearth the enigma of her own identity.
