Interivew with Marc Augé
Anthropologist
French anthropologist Marc Augé visited the CCCB to take part in the debate ‘The Strength of Anonymity’, a reflection on the individual, identity and freedom in mass society. In this interview, Professor Augé, father of the concept of the ‘non-place’ (in which people have no social relations of any kind), discusses the paradox of anonymity in modern life. On the one hand we have the means and the technologies to communicate with the outside world and be more visible than ever, but on the other hand, according to Augé, the consumer society brings with it new forms of loneliness.
